NEW DELHI: Several demonstrators were detained by Delhi Police on Saturday after gathering at Jantar Mantar to protest against the Election Commission amid heightened security arrangements and extensive barricading across the national capital.
Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers across Delhi as CJP activists remained firm on their call to protest against the Election Commission.
Security measures have been tightened at entry points to the national capital, with authorities taking steps to prevent any untoward incident. According to the report, 46 Metro stations remained closed as police sought to prevent a recurrence of the protests witnessed on July 20.
The detentions came amid heightened vigilance and restrictions aimed at maintaining law and order during the demonstration.
