KISHTWAR: Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) has commenced stringing works for the transmission system designed to evacuate power from the Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kwar hydroelectric projects, marking a major milestone in project execution.
The stringing activity began on January 13, 2026, for the 400 kV Double Circuit (Triple HTLS Conductor) transmission line from the Pot Head Yard of Kiru Hydroelectric Project to the Kishtwar Pooling Station. The project also includes Loop-In Loop-Out (LILO) of one circuit of the 400 kV double-circuit Kiru–Kishtwar line at the Pot Head Yards of the Kwar and Pakal Dul projects.
According to officials, the transmission line is planned to be completed within the stipulated schedule to synchronize with the commissioning of the CVPPL hydroelectric projects. The start of stringing works is expected to significantly facilitate the timely completion of associated transmission infrastructure, ensuring smooth evacuation of generated power.
The Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kwar hydroelectric projects are among the key power projects in the Chenab basin and are expected to substantially augment the power generation capacity of Jammu and Kashmir upon completion.
