NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will mark its 33rd anniversary with a function at the Vigyan Bhawan here on October 12, and Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant will be the chief guest, the body said on Friday.
In the last 33 years, the NHRC has handled over 24 lakh cases, including 3,100 cases of suo motu cognisance, it said.
And the NHRC has recommended monetary relief of more than Rs 274 crore in 9,085 cases to victims of human rights violations, the commission said in a statement.
