JAMMU: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA), in collaboration with morning walkers of Bahu Plaza, carried out a cleanliness drive at South Block, Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar, as part of the second phase of the Swachhta Abhiyan.
The drive targeted a spot identified among the neglected areas of Jammu South, where morning walkers joined CGPWA members in cleaning the commercial area during the early hours.
The initiative was undertaken under the Government of India’s Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 6.0), which commenced on October 2 and will continue until the end of October across the country.
The campaign focuses on intensive cleanliness activities at public places through voluntary community participation and shramdaan. Participants from diverse professional backgrounds, including retired civil servants, engineers, architects and doctors, enthusiastically took part in the drive, expressing satisfaction at the opportunity to clean an area they regularly visit for morning walks.
The CGPWA team was led by Sunil Sharma. Those who participated in the cleanliness drive included Dr J. G. Langar, Dr K. K. Gupta, Dr Ravinder Padha, Radha Krishan, S. Kuldeep Singh, Thakur Dass, Kuldeep Magotra, Architect Harinder Arora, Ashok Gupta, Architect B. S. Chib, D. L. Choudhry, O. P. Sharma, V. K. Padha, J. K. Gupta and K. B. Jandial.
As part of its continued commitment to community cleanliness, the association plans to organise its next shramdaan activity at Government Middle School, Barnai.
