JAMMU: In a major breakthrough against interstate narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu recovered around 500 grams of high-quality heroin and arrested an accused smuggler during a swift operation based on specific intelligence inputs.
Acting on reliable information, an ANTF team placed the suspect under sustained surveillance and intercepted him during the operation. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohd. Parvez, son of Mohd. Shaheed, a resident of Jaffarabad, North-East Delhi. A search of his possession led to the recovery of approximately 500 grams of heroin.
In this regard, FIR No. 03/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu. Further investigation is underway to identify his associates and trace the supply chain.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused is part of a larger interstate drug syndicate involved in supplying narcotics from outside the Union Territory to local peddlers in Jammu & Kashmir. ANTF teams are working to expose backward and forward linkages, including the source and planned distribution network.
The ANTF, J&K, reiterated its commitment to intensifying its crackdown on drug trafficking networks and urged the public to share any information related to narcotics smuggling to support efforts toward making J&K drug-free.
