BANDIPORA: Week-long series of Free Medical-cum-Awareness Camps for rural women across Bandipora district concluded successfully today.
The initiative was jointly organised by SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), Mission Shakti, Department of Social Welfare Bandipora, NRLM Bandipora and AYUSH Health Department Bandipora with the objective of improving women’s access to healthcare services, health awareness and welfare schemes.
During the camps, women beneficiaries availed free health check-ups, health screenings, medical consultations and free medicines. Awareness sessions on yoga, mental well-being, balanced nutrition, healthy lifestyles, women’s health, gender equality, education and empowerment were also conducted. Participants were sensitized about various legal safeguards and government initiatives for the protection and welfare of girls and women.
The camps witnessed active participation from AYUSH doctors including Dr. Riyaz-ur-Rehman, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Dr. Tariq Ahmad, Dr. Shabana Khan and Dr. Wajahat Ahmad, who provided healthcare services and valuable health guidance to the beneficiaries.
Officials of SANKALP HEW Mission Shakti, including the District Mission Coordinator, Gender Specialists and Financial Literacy Specialist, conducted awareness sessions on women-centric schemes, financial inclusion, gender equality and services available through the Social Welfare Department. Women were encouraged to prioritize their health and make full use of the facilities available through various government departments.
Officials of NRLM Bandipora, including Cluster Coordinators and Community Mobilizers, played a vital role in mobilizing beneficiaries and ensuring active participation of rural women throughout the programme.
The successful completion of the week-long outreach initiative reflected the strong coordination and collaborative efforts of SANKALP HEW Mission Shakti, NRLM Bandipora and AYUSH Health Department Bandipora in bringing essential healthcare services, awareness and empowerment interventions to women at the grassroots level across the district.
