JAMMU: JP World School, Jammu, hosted its grand Annual Sports Day ‘ZENITH’ on Saturday, marked by spirited participation, cultural vibrancy, and impressive athletic performances.
The event began with a ceremonial welcome to the Chief Guest, Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council, and Nirmal Kishore Kotwal, President J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu. They were accompanied by the Principal, Aparana Kohli, whose leadership added significance to the celebration.
In her welcome address, Principal Aparana Kohli spoke about the vital role of sports in the holistic development of students. She proudly highlighted the achievements of students who have represented the school at national and international platforms. She also urged youngsters to steer clear of mobile addiction and drug abuse, encouraging them to embrace sports for a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Chief Guest Nuzhat Gul, in her address, lauded the school for fostering sporting excellence and providing opportunities for young athletes to shine. She motivated students to remain focused, dedicated, and confident in their sporting pursuits.
The cultural programme opened with a graceful Ganesh Vandana, followed by the Marshal Light Round led by the Student Council and outstanding sportspersons — symbolizing leadership, discipline, and unity. A symbolic Pigeon Release ceremony further added to the spirit of peace and harmony.
A highlight of the event was the spectacular March Past by the four school houses accompanied by the BSF Band, reflecting teamwork, coordination, and competitive spirit. The National Anthem echoed proudly across the field, evoking patriotic fervour.
Students of the primary wing showcased synchronized PT drills, leaving the audience mesmerized with their rhythm and formation. The excitement intensified as various track events commenced, with students from different classes participating with zeal to achieve podium finishes.
Thrilling demonstrations of Wushu, Judo, Taekwondo, and Speedball displayed the strength, skill, and discipline nurtured on campus, earning applause from spectators.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Retd. Brig. Anil Gupta, Member Administration, who appreciated the school for encouraging sporting culture and nurturing future champions.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognizing winners and outstanding performers, followed by a vote of thanks, marking the successful end of a day filled with energy, achievement, and celebration of sportsmanship.
