JAMMU: Security forces on Sunday launched search operations across forest areas of Rajouri and Udhampur districts following reports of suspected terrorist movement, officials said.
In Rajouri, three suspected terrorists allegedly abducted villager Anil Sudan near his residence at Upper Lardia in the Sunderbani sector late Saturday night. The suspects reportedly took him towards the Dua Khad forest, allegedly using him as a guide, before releasing him around 3:15 am.
Following the incident, police and Army personnel rushed to the area and launched a search operation to trace the suspects. Officials said no contact had been established with the suspected terrorists so far.
Security forces also cordoned off the Mandugala Dhok forest in Rajouri after locals reportedly spotted two persons dressed in black, carrying backpacks and weapons.
Another search operation is underway in Chigli Keya village of Udhampur district following information about suspected movement.
The latest searches come days after an encounter in Udhampur. On September 17, two Pakistani terrorists were killed in an operation in the Majalta area, while another terrorist reportedly escaped after sustaining injuries.
Security forces have intensified area domination and searches in the suspected zones as efforts continue to trace the reported movements.
