BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today reviewed implementation of Classes of Joy- Teaching at Right Level (TaRL) and focused on improving FLN learning outcomes during a meeting held at the Conference Hall, Budgam.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Budgam, Principal DIET Beerwah, all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), all Zonal Education Planning Officers (ZEPOs), and representatives from the Pratham Education Foundation.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the progress and implementation of the TaRL initiative across the district. Discussions focused on the effective rollout of the programme, teacher capacity building, classroom-level implementation and measures to improve foundational learning outcomes among students.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the importance of Teaching at the Right Level in bridging learning gaps among children by aligning teaching practices with their actual learning levels rather than merely their age or grade.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of the programme at the grassroots level and emphasised close monitoring of classroom practices to assess its impact on students’ learning outcomes.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for activity-based, child-centred and joyful teaching methodologies that encourage the active participation of children and help strengthen their Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills.
He also appreciated the collaborative efforts of the School Education Department and the Pratham Education Foundation in supporting the district’s initiatives towards strengthening foundational learning. He called for sustained coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that the objectives of the programme translate into measurable improvements in classroom learning.
The CEO Budgam briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the progress made under the programme and apprised him of the initiatives being undertaken at the zonal and school levels.
