SRINAGAR: A one-day training programme for Anganwadi Workers under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) was organised today at Miskeen Bagh (Madri Meharbaan), Khanyar, Srinagar by the District Social Welfare Office, Srinagar.
The programme focused on sensitising Anganwadi Workers about substance abuse, its adverse impact on individuals and families, early identification of vulnerable persons and the importance of timely counselling and intervention.
Dr. Mariya from IMHANS Srinagar addressed the participants and spoke about the psychological and behavioural aspects associated with substance abuse, while Dr. Khair-un-Nissa, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), highlighted the impact of substance abuse on children and families and stressed the need for community-based prevention and support.
The participating Anganwadi Workers were encouraged to play an active role in spreading awareness at the grassroots level and strengthening community efforts towards a drug-free society.
The programme concluded with a commitment from the participants to actively support and further the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
