MUMBAI: Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita M. Ambani congratulated the Indian contingent on its impressive performance at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the country finished fourth on the medals table with 39 medals, including 13 golds.
Describing the campaign as an important milestone for Indian sport, Ambani said every medal reflected the extraordinary dedication, resilience, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of the country’s athletes.
She praised India’s boxers for registering a record medal haul and lauded the women athletes for winning a majority of the country’s gold medals.
“Our women athletes shone brilliantly, winning the majority of India’s gold medals and proving once again that, when given the opportunity, they can conquer the biggest stages in the world,” she said.
Ambani also applauded the para-athletes for delivering their best-ever performance at the Commonwealth Games, saying their courage, determination and belief had inspired people across the country.
She expressed particular delight over the performances of Reliance Foundation athletes Lovlina Borgohain, Murali Sreeshankar and Tejaswin Shankar.
“At Reliance Foundation, we believe in nurturing sporting talent from the grassroots to the global stage and empowering every athlete to realise their fullest potential,” she said.
Referring to India’s preparations to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030, Ambani said the achievements of the Glasgow contingent had inspired a new generation of athletes.
“Their achievements remind us that India’s sporting journey is only just beginning and our best is yet to come,” she said.
She hoped the athletes’ success would encourage young Indians to dream fearlessly, work tirelessly and represent the country with pride.
