KATHUA: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Kathua, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, today organised the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” programme at Government Degree College (Women), Kathua. Around 170 participants, including students from the Gujjar and Bakarwal Hostel, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets of GDC Women Kathua participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The programme commenced with the rendition of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, followed by the administration of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” pledge, wherein the participants reaffirmed their commitment to stay away from substance abuse and contribute towards building a healthy, empowered and developed India.
Deputy Director, MY Bharat Kathua, Jigmat Spaldon addressed the participants and highlighted the pivotal role of youth in combating drug abuse and realising the vision of Viksit Bharat. She emphasised that a healthy, disciplined and responsible youth population is essential for achieving the national goal of a developed India and urged the participants to become ambassadors of the anti-drug campaign in their communities.
The participants also joined the nationwide virtual programme, which commenced with an address by Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. In his address, the Union Minister called upon the youth to lead the movement against substance abuse and actively contribute towards nation-building.
As part of the programme, a Nukkad Natak based on the theme of drug abuse was presented, highlighting the harmful consequences of addiction and reinforcing the message of collective responsibility in building a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
Later, the participants listened to the virtual address of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who inspired the youth to play a proactive role in building a drug-free India and underscored their responsibility in shaping the nation’s future. The participants listened to the Prime Minister’s address with keen interest and enthusiasm.
Among others, NSS Programme Officers, Deputy Director MY Bharat Kathua, faculty members and staff of Government Degree College (Women), Kathua were present on the occasion.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve by the participating youth to carry forward the message of “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” to their families, peers and communities and contribute towards the vision of a drug-free and developed India.
