KUPWARA: In a significant step towards streamlining rural land records, Property Cards under the Government of India’s SVAMITVA Scheme were distributed today among the entitled beneficiaries of villages Radbugh, Shadipora, Bumhama and Waterkhani, falling under the jurisdiction of Tehsil Dragmulla.
The distribution exercise was carried out by Tehsildar Dragmulla on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, who has been closely monitoring the implementation of the scheme across the district.
Interacting with the beneficiaries during the programme, the Tehsildar highlighted that the SVAMITVA Scheme has been launched with the objective of providing verified ownership documents to rural households through the use of modern drone-surveying and mapping technology.
He further added that possession of a Property Card would now enable the beneficiaries to leverage their residential property as a financial asset, thereby facilitating easier access to bank loans and other credit facilities. This, he said, would go a long way in boosting the economic empowerment of the rural populace besides bringing their assets within the ambit of formal financial institutions.
The Tehsildar also impressed upon the beneficiaries the need to safeguard the Property Cards as valuable legal documents, to be produced as and when required in matters relating to property mutation, inheritance, sale or any other official transaction.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Department, Kupwara informed that the exercise for coverage of the remaining villages under the SVAMITVA Scheme is progressing at a steady pace and would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, in keeping with the district administration’s resolve to ensure hundred percent saturation of the scheme.
Revenue functionaries, Patwaris of the concerned Halqas and a sizeable number of villagers attended the distribution drive.
