JAMMU: In a major success against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with the Border Security Force (101 Battalion) recovered a huge consignment of high-grade narcotics, suspected to have been dropped by a drone, from agricultural fields on the outskirts of Bahadurpur village in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah in Jammu district.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹12 crore in the international market. The area is located just a few kilometres from the India–Pakistan International Border.
According to officials, acting on specific inputs about a suspicious drone dropping in the fields, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Jammu Police and BSF personnel during the evening hours on March 11, 2026. During the search, the team recovered a bag with an attached rope and hook containing several small packets from the fields.
On inspection, each packet appeared to contain heroin-like substance. The recovered packets were found to contain approximately 2 kilograms of heroin. A recovery memo has been prepared and the consignment has been taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
In this connection, FIR No. 41/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah. The investigation is being carried out by the Station House Officer of Police Station Bishnah, Inspector Rakesh Jamwal, under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the exact source and intended destination of the recovered contraband. Both backward and forward linkages in the case are being examined and more breakthroughs are expected.
Jammu Police has appealed to the public, especially residents living near the International Border, to share any information regarding illegal drug activities in their localities. Authorities reiterated that with public cooperation, sustained efforts are being made to build a drug-free and crime-free society.
