US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) claimed that he played a decisive role in resolving multiple global conflicts, including tensions between India and Pakistan, asserting that his interventions helped avert a potential catastrophe involving tens of millions of lives.
Speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Trump described himself as a “peacemaker,” stating, “I am the one who settled eight wars. I settled a war that would have killed 30 to 50 million people, India-Pakistan.” He further expanded the claim by saying that including tensions involving Iran and Lebanon, the number of conflicts he helped resolve rises to ten, saving “many, many millions of lives.”
Trump also pointed to developments in West Asia, claiming progress on maritime security and regional stability. Referring to the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, he said Iran had declared it open for full commercial passage, while emphasizing that a US naval presence would remain until a formal agreement is finalized.
On the Lebanon front, Trump claimed that the United States facilitated what he described as an “unprecedented ceasefire” between Israel and Lebanon, stating such a development had not occurred in decades.
Regarding ongoing diplomacy, Trump said negotiations with Iran were continuing and expressed optimism about a potential agreement, noting that talks would proceed over the weekend. He added that US restrictions tied to Iran would remain in place until a deal is fully signed.
Meanwhile, according to reports cited by CNN, a new round of US-Iran talks is expected to take place in Islamabad on Monday, with delegations from both sides anticipated to arrive in Pakistan on Sunday.
