SRINAGAR: Security forces on Monday foiled a suspected terror conspiracy by arresting a man and recovering a hand grenade from his possession in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The operation was jointly carried out by Pulwama Police, the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF’s 183 Battalion during naka checking on the Drabgam-Pachar road.
Police said the joint team noticed a suspicious person approaching Pachar from Drabgam. On seeing the security personnel, he allegedly attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended near the Fruit Mandi on Pachar Road.
The suspect was identified as Tousef Ahmad Dar, a resident of Drabgam Payeen.
A hand grenade, three anti-national posters and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession, police said.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Rajpora under Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the recovered material and establish possible links with other individuals or networks.
