JAMM: A meeting to review and strengthen the “Know Your Beat Officer” initiative was held at District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, under the chairmanship of SP South Jammu, with SDPO South, SDPO East and all Beat Officers of South Zone in attendance.
The meeting focused on strengthening direct communication and coordination between the police and residents through dedicated WhatsApp groups created under the citizen-friendly initiative. The platform is aimed at enabling people to remain connected with their respective Beat Officers and promptly share information concerning suspicious activities and other law-and-order issues in their areas.
During the meeting, SP South Jammu stressed that Beat Officers must remain accessible, responsive and closely connected with the public. Officers were directed to facilitate the prompt sharing of information relating to suspicious persons or activities, tenants, outsiders and other security concerns by residents.
The meeting also reviewed several key security and policing measures, including 100 per cent tenant verification, maintenance of updated beat-wise tenant records and thorough verification of domestic helps, drivers and other outsiders. Officers were further directed to intensify night patrolling and naka checking at vulnerable locations and step up public awareness regarding cyber crimes and relevant helpline numbers for timely reporting.
Concluding the meeting, SP South Jammu directed all officers to ensure effective implementation of the “Know Your Beat Officer” initiative and strict compliance with the measures discussed. The general public was also urged to extend full cooperation to the Police and promptly report any suspicious activity or relevant information to their respective Beat Officers.
Police said active public participation and timely information-sharing would play an important role in maintaining peace, security and law and order across South Zone, Jammu.
