JAMMU: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), in collaboration with the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA), Jammu, organised a free Health Camp at its Gandhinagar OPD today to mark the 35th International Day of Older Persons (IDOP).
The camp was inaugurated by Kuldeep Khoda, President, CGPWA, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Member, SMVDS Board, and K.B. Jandial, General Secretary, CGPWA, in the presence of senior members of the Association and doctors from SMVDNSH.
More than 50 elderly pensioners and senior citizens attended the camp and availed free healthcare services, which included FibroScan for liver health, routine blood investigations, and medical consultations.
The medical team was led by Dr. Vishav Dev Singh, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology, who addressed common gastrointestinal problems in ageing, and Dr. Parul Gohil, Consultant, Anaesthesia & Pain Management, who advised on effective approaches to chronic pain management among the elderly.
Speaking on the occasion, Khoda expressed gratitude to SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital for partnering in initiatives promoting elderly healthcare. He reiterated CGPWA’s commitment to creating awareness about healthy ageing, preventive care, and timely medical consultations.
Dr. Ashok Bhan highlighted the hospital’s role in extending quality healthcare to different sections of society, including senior citizens, and lauded the partnership with CGPWA for its focus on pensioners. He also underlined the philanthropic efforts of SMVDNSH in extending specialised care to CGHS and Ayushman beneficiaries.
The camp concluded with a message on the importance of active ageing, healthy lifestyles, and periodic screenings as vital steps to improving the quality of life of senior citizens. Both CGPWA and SMVD Narayana Hospital announced plans to conduct similar outreach programmes in the future for the benefit of the elderly community in Jammu.
