RAJOURI: In a major breakthrough against the terror ecosystem operating in the Pir Panjal region, Rajouri Police have busted an alleged Over Ground Worker (OGW) network linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and arrested three persons, officials said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Zakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; Mohd Azam, son of Ali Bahadur, resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; and Mohd Mushtaq, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Udhan, Rajouri.
The arrests were made during the investigation into a terror module operating in the Pir Panjal region. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly provided logistical support, safe transit and other ground-level assistance to terrorists.
Police said the investigation further indicated that the accused allegedly acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards the Kashmir Valley. They are also suspected of providing ground support to terrorists linked with multiple high-profile attacks, including an attack targeting civilians.
During the investigation, an IED was recovered following the disclosure of one of the accused, police said. Preliminary findings indicate that the device had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and possible use in a targeted attack.
Rajouri Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the wider network, identify additional associates and ascertain the full extent of the accused persons’ alleged involvement. Further investigation is in progress.
