KATRA: In a major crackdown on narcotics, District Police Reasi recovered heroin and arrested two individuals after a naka laid by Police Station Katra at PCP Nomain intercepted a vehicle carrying contraband on Wednesday evening.
Around 7:20 PM, a sky-blue Toyota Etios (JK02AW 8999) coming from Domail towards Katra was stopped for checking. Four persons were onboard.
The accused were identified as:
- Ajay Sharma, son of Rajkumar Sharma, resident of Kun Darrorian, Katra
- Vinay Singh, son of Anil Singh, resident of Ward No. 9, Matyal, Katra
Two women travelling with them were identified as:
- Sonia Dogra, daughter of Bodh Raj, resident of Ward No. 3, Katra
- Namita Dogra, daughter of Bodh Raj, resident of Ward No. 3, Katra
During frisking, police recovered 5.77 grams of heroin (chitta) from Ajay Sharma and 5.45 grams from Vinay Singh. Both men were arrested on the spot, and FIR No. 325/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and possible links to drug networks.
The operation was led by SHO Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reaffirmed the police’s commitment to its anti-narcotics campaign, urging the public to cooperate and report drug-related activities to help curb the menace.
