RAJOURI: In line with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, Municipal Council Rajouri has intensified cleanliness, sanitation and awareness activities under the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
Being observed from September 17 to October 17, 2026, under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”, the campaign aims to promote community participation, responsible waste management and sustainable sanitation practices across the town.
The campaign was formally launched at Municipal Council Rajouri by Ashiq Rafiq Malik, Executive Officer, Municipal Council Rajouri, through a ceremonial lamp-lighting ceremony. Addressing the participants, the Executive Officer highlighted the importance of collective participation in achieving the objectives of the campaign and called upon all stakeholders to make cleanliness a sustained community movement rather than a one-time activity.
A key initiative being undertaken under the campaign is the engagement of 50 educational institutions, as directed by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri. These institutions will undertake organic composting activities besides conducting awareness programmes among students on waste segregation, composting and responsible waste management. The initiative aims to develop sustainable waste-management habits among students and encourage them to become ambassadors of cleanliness in their homes and communities.
As part of the campaign, Swachhata Pledges were administered at Town Hall, Rajouri, and Government Middle School, Rajouri. The Executive Officer, ULB staff, sanitation workers and students participated in the pledge and reaffirmed their commitment to cleanliness, proper waste management and maintaining hygienic surroundings.
Various cleanliness and awareness activities are being conducted across Rajouri town with a focus on sanitation, waste segregation, organic waste management, cleanliness and citizen participation.
Municipal Council Rajouri has appealed to residents, students, educational institutions, sanitation workers and other stakeholders to actively participate in the campaign and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Rajouri.
The series of activities under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 will continue across the town till October 17, 2026.
