REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 and review the District Sanitation Plan for 2026-27.
The meeting held detailed discussions on the proposed sanitation activities and waste management arrangements across the district. After reviewing the proposed projects, the Deputy Commissioner approved the District Sanitation Plan for the current financial year. The approved plan focuses on strengthening door-to-door collection of segregated waste, transportation of waste through designated vehicles, source segregation and recycling.
The DC directed the concerned BDOs to ensure effective implementation of the plan at the grassroots level and ensure that sanitation services reach all Panchayats. He stressed regular waste collection, proper source segregation and timely transportation of waste. GPS-based vehicle tracking and approved route plans will also be followed for effective monitoring of waste collection vehicles.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the operation and maintenance of sanitation assets, clearance of legacy waste sites, provision of necessary safety equipment to sanitation workers and regular monitoring of sanitation activities.
Meeting was attended by GM DIC Navdeep Wazir, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACD Mukesh Sharma and other concerned officers.
