JAMMU: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has announced the operation of a special Vande Bharat train (Train No. 02439/02440) between New Delhi and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) in view of the increased passenger rush resulting from frequent flight cancellations. The special service will run for three days from 12 December to 14 December 2025, ensuring convenient, safe and reliable travel for stranded passengers.
As per the schedule, Train No. 02439 (New Delhi to Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan) will depart from New Delhi at 6:00 AM and reach Udhampur at 2:00 PM, halting at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi and other en route stations.
The return service, Train No. 02440 (Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan to New Delhi), will leave Udhampur at 3:00 PM and arrive in New Delhi at 11:00 PM, with stops at Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt and intermediate stations.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. Uchit Singhal, said that the special Vande Bharat service has been planned to address the surge in travelers due to flight disruptions, ensuring uninterrupted travel and timely connectivity. He also informed that the train will run with 20 coaches.
Passengers are advised to check detailed schedules and availability through the official Indian Railways website or NTES app before commencing their journey.
