SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting and assessed the security apparatus and strategic preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, ADGP CID M.K. Sinha, IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar, IGP Jammu Tejinder Singh, IGP Crime Branch Sarah Rizvi, Divisional Commissioners, DIGs and other senior officials.
The Lieutenant Governor directed senior officers to maintain sustained pressure on terror networks and strengthen operational coordination at the ground level.
He called for an aggressive area domination strategy to deal decisively with emerging threats and asked security agencies to maintain heightened vigilance across the Union Territory.
Emphasising the importance of public trust, Sinha directed police officers to strengthen direct engagement with citizens and designate specific hours for public interaction and grievance redressal.
Reviewing functioning at the police station level, he stressed transparent, impartial and sensitive handling of complaints and said investigations must be conducted with professionalism.
“The police must maintain a strong and continuous engagement with the public. Every genuine grievance must be addressed with sensitivity and every investigation must be conducted with absolute fairness, transparency and impartiality,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Sinha also commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies for action against drug smugglers and directed officials to intensify operations against narco-terror networks.
He further called for enhanced monitoring of emerging digital threats, including anti-national propaganda, misinformation and online blackmailing on social media platforms.
During the meeting, the DGP and Principal Secretary Home briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
IGPs, DIGs and Divisional Commissioners also presented updates on anti-terror operations, law and order, drug smuggling and other emerging security challenges in their respective areas.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on a range of critical security issues, with Sinha directing all officers to ensure seamless inter-agency coordination and adopt a proactive approach to maintaining peace and public order across Jammu and Kashmir.
