JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday handed over government job appointment letters to 41 Next of Kin (NoKs) of civilians killed in terrorism-related incidents in the Jammu division.
Appointment letters were also issued to 22 beneficiaries under age-relaxation cases and 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs under the Compassionate Appointment Rules (SRO-43) and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS).
Earlier, on July 28, 2025, the Lt Governor had provided jobs to 94 NoKs of terror victims from the region. With today’s appointments, relief has now reached 135 families who, according to the LG, had been denied justice for decades.
Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha paid homage to the civilian martyrs and expressed solidarity with the affected families.
He said terror-affected families were “left to struggle in silence” for years, with their suffering ignored and their wounds left unhealed. “Such families are now being recognized, respected and rehabilitated,” he added.
The Lt Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring dignity and economic security to families that paid the highest price.
“Providing jobs to real victims of terror and true martyrs reflects the nation’s resolve to stand with them through concrete action,” he said.
“Our mission is to transform the lives of families who were deliberately deprived of justice so they can contribute to society’s progress and nation-building.”
Sharing individual stories from districts across Jammu, the LG highlighted the decades-long struggles of families like that of Naseeb Singh from Rajouri, whose father Dharam Singh and four others were brutally killed by terrorists in 2005. Similar tragedies were recalled from Reasi and Kishtwar, where families endured immense hardship for nearly 20 years. “Now, a new beginning will allow them to rebuild their lives with dignity,” he said.
The Lt Governor asserted that under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah, the administration is dismantling the entire terror ecosystem in J&K.
“We have not bought peace, but established peace. The days of misgovernance are over. Terrorists, separatists and their patrons are no longer given government jobs—they are being identified and punished with the harshest penalties,” he said.
Warning about attempts from “dying terror networks” to spread misinformation and negative narratives, LG Sinha said the government would take stringent action against those engaged in anti-national propaganda as per the law.
“Those fanning separatism and threatening national unity will face legal consequences,” he asserted.
The Lt Governor urged all sections of society to contribute selflessly to the ‘Mahayagya of development’ in Jammu & Kashmir.
The event was attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Commissioner Secretary GAD M Raju, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, Deputy Commissioners, senior officials, families of terror victims, legislators, and members of various social organisations.
