NEW DELHI: A Leh-bound SpiceJet aircraft returned to New Delhi on Tuesday morning following a technical issue, sources said.
The Boeing 737 aircraft was operating flight SG121 from Delhi to Leh with around 150 passengers on board. Shortly after takeoff, the crew decided to return to the national capital as a precaution.
Confirming the development, a SpiceJet spokesperson said the flight experienced a technical issue and safely landed back in Delhi. “The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers were disembarked normally,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Sources indicated that the aircraft suffered an engine-related issue. However, the airline clarified that there was no fire warning in the cockpit.
Further checks and maintenance procedures are expected to be carried out before the aircraft resumes operations.
