JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and expressed gratitude for the recent approval of relaxation in Engineering Gazetted Service Recruitment Rules — a long-pending amendment awaited since 1978.
During the interaction, the Association conveyed that the engineering fraternity across J&K is highly motivated following the Chief Minister’s address at SKICC and IEI Srinagar Centre, where she acknowledged the role, contribution, and dedication of engineers. JKEEGA stated that the Chief Minister’s supportive stance on Assured Career Progression (ACP) has raised expectations, hoping that the upcoming Budget Session will extend long-awaited ACP benefits to engineers.
The Association also submitted several key demands concerning the Power Development Department, including:
- Regularization of engineers from AE to CE level
- Filling up of vacant positions across JE to CE hierarchy
- Re-organization and creation of posts as per the Unbundling Report
- Incorporation of ACP for engineers in the upcoming Budget
- Utilization of the 20% quota of erstwhile departmental direct recruitment (AEs) to improve promotion avenues for existing JEs, thereby avoiding litigation
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that all raised issues will be given due consideration and are likely to see a positive outcome.
