SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Srinagar, today commenced the Four-Week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP) under the RAMP Scheme at Govt. College for Women (GCW), M.A. Road, Srinagar.
The 5th batch of the programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq Khan, Principal, GCW in presence of Dr. Naila Khanday, Range Officer, Central Kashmir; Shabir Hussain Shah, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Srinagar; Nazia Shafi, Course Coordinator, Miftah, JKEDI; Sajad Sofi, Designated Programme Trainer; Dr. Hilal Ahmad, HOD Biochemistry and Dr. Sheeba Drabu, Convener, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, GCW.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries outlined the key objectives of the RAMP Scheme and emphasized its vital role in nurturing grassroots entrepreneurship across Jammu & Kashmir. They highlighted how such targeted interventions empower aspiring entrepreneurs with essential tools required to build sustainable business ventures.
In his address, the District Nodal Officer Srinagar, briefed participants about the evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem and emerging opportunities in the startup sector. He stressed the critical importance of entrepreneurship in tackling unemployment and fostering a self-reliant economy, urging trainees to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The RAMP-funded ESDP is designed to equip prospective entrepreneurs with comprehensive skills in business development, financial planning, market awareness and other foundational areas necessary for launching and managing enterprises successfully.
A total of 35 aspiring entrepreneurs registered on the inaugural day. The programme aims to impart entrepreneurial knowledge, business management skills and practical insights into enterprise creation, thereby promoting self-employment among students.
