JAMMU: Jammu (Rural) Police on Tuesday arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 9.09 grams of heroin-like substance during a naka checking operation at Nagbani Chowk, Domana.
The operation was conducted on specific intelligence inputs by a police team from Police Station Domana, led by SHO Inspector Varuneshwar Singh. During the checking, the police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14C-1100 and apprehended three occupants.
The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Kesar, son of Vijay Kumar, resident of Marh, Jammu; Gokul Singh, son of Madan Singh, resident of Aithem, Jammu; and Daljeet Singh, son of Sandal Singh, resident of Shekapeer, Marh. Police said Amit Kesar attempted to mislead officers by projecting himself as a media person during questioning.
Apart from the contraband, police recovered ₹76,400 in cash, suspected to be proceeds of drug trafficking, along with foil papers and burned currency notes. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence was also seized.
In this connection, FIR No. 28/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Domana, and all the accused have been arrested.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace both forward and backward linkages of the drug network.
