JAMMU: Reiterating its commitment to providing passengers with a safe, comfortable and pleasant travel experience, the Jammu Division highlighted exemplary acts of service by its ticket checking staff on December 20.
In the first incident, a passenger travelling from Delhi to Jammu on Train No. 12413 (seat No. 25, S/2 coach) slipped and fell on the platform at Pathankot Cantt Railway Station while getting tea. Chief Ticket Inspector Rakesh Mehta, present at the station, immediately assisted the passenger and arranged medical help. During this time, the train departed, leaving the passenger’s luggage on board. On being informed, the Pathankot ticket checking staff promptly alerted their Jammu counterparts. On the train’s arrival at Jammu Railway Station, under the supervision of Chief Ticket Inspector Abdul Rashid, the passenger’s luggage was safely retrieved. The passenger was later sent to Jammu from Pathankot on another train and expressed gratitude to the railway staff for their timely assistance.
In another incident, a passenger travelling in coach D/2 of Train No. 22429 from Delhi to Pathankot had to alight at Sirhind Railway Station and inadvertently left his luggage on the train while heading to Amritsar. After the passenger reported the matter through Rail Madad, ticket checking staff Gaurav Sharma and Praveen Kumar, based at Pathankot headquarters, immediately searched the coach and recovered the luggage. It was subsequently handed over to the Railway Protection Force at Ludhiana. The passenger was informed about the recovery and thanked the railways for their prompt action.
Appreciating the efforts of the staff, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the railway administration values such courteous and helpful behaviour, which strengthens passengers’ trust in Indian Railways. He also announced that certificates of appreciation would be awarded to the ticket checking staff for their commendable work.
