SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Friday chaired a security review meeting ahead of the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to be held in Srinagar from September 7 to 10.
A police spokesperson said the meeting focused on strengthening security arrangements and ensuring comprehensive preparedness for the smooth and secure conduct of the festival.
The IGP reviewed the overall security preparedness, deployment plans and arrangements being put in place for the event.
Detailed discussions were held on venue security, deployment of personnel, access control, surveillance, crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency response mechanisms and inter-agency coordination.
Kumar stressed the need for adequate and strategically planned deployment at all identified venues, keeping in view the expected movement and gathering of visitors, participants, dignitaries and other stakeholders.
He also directed officers to ensure thorough route clearance and appropriate deployment of Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along designated routes to facilitate secure and uninterrupted movement during the festival.
Officers were asked to put in place effective crowd management measures, maintain regulated entry and exit points and ensure smooth movement around the venues.
The IGP also emphasised the need for a proper traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimise inconvenience to the public.
Adequate personnel have been directed to be deployed at vulnerable and congested points as part of the overall security and traffic arrangements.
