SRINAGAR: One terrorist was neutralised on Friday during a joint security operation codenamed ‘Operation ASHDAR’ in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said.
The operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about suspected terrorist movement in the area.
According to the Chinar Corps, troops noticed suspicious activity during the search operation. When challenged, the terrorists opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
“One terrorist neutralised and one AK rifle and other war-like stores recovered,” the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
Security forces have continued the search operation in the area to rule out the presence of any other terrorists.
Further details are awaited.
