REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today reviewed the progress of ongoing water supply schemes in the district, with emphasis on timely completion of works and ensuring reliable and safe drinking water supply to rural households.
During the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed assessment of various water supply schemes being executed by the Jal Shakti Department across the district. The progress of AMRUT 2.0 projects was also reviewed. The concerned officers apprised the meeting about the status of works and implementation-related issues. The DDC directed the officers to ensure regular monitoring of all projects and complete the works within the prescribed timelines while maintaining quality standards.
The proposed constitution of Sujalam Shakti at the village level was also discussed. The DDC stressed the need to strengthen community participation in water conservation and management and called for active involvement of local institutions and stakeholders in ensuring sustainable water resources at the grassroots level.
The Catch the Rain campaign was also reviewed in detail. The DDC directed the concerned departments to identify and formulate more projects under the campaign, with special focus on rainwater harvesting, water conservation and other measures for sustainable management of water resources.
Emphasizing the importance of safe drinking water, the DDC directed the concerned officers to increase water quality testing across the district and ensure regular testing of drinking water in all Government schools.
He stressed that necessary measures should be taken to ensure that students have access to safe and quality drinking water.
