JAMMU: The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, has launched a series of activities under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, focusing on cleanliness, hygiene, environmental conservation and greater participation of the institute community in maintaining a clean and sustainable campus.
The campaign, being observed from September 17 to October 2, commenced with a cleanliness pledge administered by Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM Jammu and CSIR-NBRI Lucknow. Addressing scientists, students and technical and administrative staff, Dr Ahmed called for cleanliness to become an integral part of the institute’s everyday working culture rather than remaining limited to a one-time activity or campaign.
Dr Ahmed urged members of the institute to take personal responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in their rooms, departments, laboratories, offices and common areas. He also stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation at CSIR-IIIM, given its regular interaction with scientists, students, visitors and other stakeholders.
As part of the environmental component of the campaign, Dr Ahmed led a tree plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, with participation from members of the institute. The activity sought to link cleanliness and environmental responsibility with the creation of greener institutional spaces.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Premnarayan Gupta, Scientist-G, Pharmacology Division, who acknowledged the participation and support of the institute community. He said incentives would be provided, as directed by the Director, to encourage and recognise active participation in cleanliness-related activities during the campaign.
A quiz competition among students of RRL High School will also be organised as part of the campaign to promote awareness and participation among young students. The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign at CSIR-IIIM will continue until October 2, with activities aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene, environmental awareness and responsible participation among scientists, students and staff.
