SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday joined more than 1,500 participants in the second edition of the Kashmir Marathon, completing the half marathon along the scenic Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Sharing his experience on X (formerly Twitter), Abdullah wrote:
“Just completed the Kashmir Half Marathon. I didn’t set a personal best but I did improve on my effort last year. Congratulations to all the runners who completed the full marathon & the half marathon. Well done. #KashmirMarathon.”
The Chief Minister was among several prominent participants in the Valley’s flagship sporting event, which attracted runners from 27 Indian states and 11 countries.
The marathon, flagged off from Polo View, saw enthusiastic participation from senior officials, professional athletes, and Bollywood celebrities.
Officials said the event underscored Kashmir’s growing enthusiasm for sports while promoting the region as a hub for endurance and adventure tourism.
