BANDIPORA: A comprehensive training workshop on the General Crop Estimation Survey (GCES) for Kharif-2026 was organized on Tuesday at Bandipora to enhance the quality, precision and efficiency of agricultural data collection across the district.
The programme was organized by the office of the Financial Commissioner Revenue and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zafar Husson Shawal, and Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani.
The technical sessions were conducted by expert resource persons from the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), including Syed Aadil Bukhari (ISS), Assistant Director (NSSO), and Mohd Shafi (ISS), Assistant Director (NSSO), along with representatives from the Financial Commissioner’s Office, Muzamil Hussain and Reyaz Ahmad.
A total of 75 participants attended the training workshop, comprising supervisory officers, primary field functionaries, and frontline staff from the Revenue, Agriculture, and Horticulture departments. Key attendees included Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars, Patwaris, Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs), and Junior Agriculture Assistants (JAAs). Field staff stationed in the remote border subdivision of Gurez also participated in the session virtually.
During the session, the master trainers imparted detailed practical and theoretical orientation on modern survey techniques, selection of survey plots, scientific crop-cutting experiments, and digital reporting parameters essential for Kharif crop yield estimation.
It was impressed upon all field functionaries to carry out the survey work with utmost diligence, precision, and adherence to prescribed guidelines, emphasizing that robust crop estimation data serves as the foundation for state-level agricultural planning, food security interventions, and farmer welfare policy formulation.
