LEH: Chief Justice of India Surya Kant was accorded a traditional welcome in Ladakh on Friday, with representatives from various local tribes participating in the reception.
Officials said the CJI was received with customary honours and briefed about the region’s rich tribal diversity. A ceremonial guard of honour was also presented on his arrival.
During his visit, Justice Kant is scheduled to inaugurate a newly constructed court complex at Melong Thang in Leh and attend a legal awareness camp at the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra.
As part of his official tour, the Chief Justice will later travel to Kargil, where he is set to inaugurate another court complex aimed at strengthening judicial infrastructure in the region.
He is also expected to visit rural areas of Ladakh to gain a closer understanding of local issues and the functioning of the justice delivery system at the grassroots level.
