JAMMU: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached Jammu on Sunday and immediately left for GMC Jammu to meet those injured in the recent Kishtwar cloudburst tragedy. Rajnath Singh was accompanied by Union Minister of State in the PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh. On arrival, he was received at the airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary of J&K. SRINAGAR: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a forest area in the Madhama area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, sources said on Sunday. Police sources said that acting on specific inputs, a joint team of security forces launched a search operation in the Madhama area Kupwara. They said that during search operation a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. JAMMU: At least 45 students of the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) were evacuated to safety in a joint operation by the State Disaster Response Force and police after floodwaters submerged the ground floor of the hostel complex here on Sunday, officials said. NEW DELHI: Premier Defence Research agency DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) has conducted the maiden flight tests of Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha. The flight tests were conducted on August 23 at around 12.30 pm. JAMMU: A suspicious aeroplane-shaped balloon with Pakistan International Airlines’ logo on it was found on Sunday in J&K’s Jammu city. Officials said that the white and saffron-coloured Pakistani balloon was found in the Nai Basti area of Jammu and had ‘PIA’ written on it in green colour. Balloons released into the air from the Pakistani side across the international border have periodically been found in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts close to the border.
