JAMMU: District Police Jammu achieved significant milestones in its sustained fight against the drug menace during the year 2025, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics through focused enforcement, intelligence-led operations, financial investigations, and strong community participation. During the year, 204 FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 311 accused, including 35 women drug peddlers. Police also seized 71 vehicles used in narcotics trafficking. Of the total arrests, 207 accused were apprehended in heroin (chitta) cases, while 51 arrests were linked to non-chitta narcotics cases. Referred from a hospital in Jammu, the baby was brought to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra, after nearly eight hours of bag and tube ventilation. The newborn arrived in a critical condition—cyanosed, with oxygen saturation at around 82 per cent—and suffering from severe sepsis, respiratory failure, and shock. SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday carried out searches in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and adjoining areas of Pulwama in connection with the November 10, 2025 car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, officials said. KATHUA: Kathua Police, under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Mohita Sharma, IPS, conducted an Anti-Fidayeen and Hostage Situation mock drill at Police Stations Hiranagar and Rajbagh to enhance operational preparedness. The exercise was jointly carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kathua, police personnel of both police stations and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos. JAMMU: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday appointed senior IPS officer Mukesh Singh as the Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh, with immediate effect. According to an order issued by the MHA, Mukesh Singh, a 1996-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been posted as DGP, Ladakh on repatriation from Central deputation until further orders. The appointment was approved by the competent authority. The order also announced other postings and transfers of IPS officers belonging to the AGMUT cadre.
