JAMMU: In a key move to enhance medical preparedness during hostile situations and wartime contingencies, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Acharya Shri Chander Medical College & Hospital (ASCOMS), Jammu.
According to a defence spokesperson, the MoU was signed by the Commandant of 166 Military Hospital and the Principal Director of ASCOMS. The collaboration aims to ensure timely and effective medical support for both military personnel and civilians during critical operations.
The agreement focuses on strengthening medical infrastructure by ensuring availability of critical care beds, operation theatres, blood transfusion facilities, ambulances and dedicated surgical teams for rapid response to combat-related injuries.
The partnership also extends to specialised medical services, including dialysis and angiography, enabling high-standard care even under adverse conditions.
Specialist doctors in cardiology, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, urology and reconstructive surgery will be available to provide advanced treatment whenever required.
“This multi-dimensional system will ensure that a wide spectrum of medical needs — from trauma care to highly specialised surgeries — can be addressed efficiently and effectively,” the spokesperson said.
He added that the MoU reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to maintain a resilient healthcare framework capable of functioning seamlessly during emergencies or conflict scenarios.
The collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening national security by ensuring a robust medical support ecosystem for soldiers and local communities in the region.
