LEH: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday inaugurated the Apricot Blossom–Chuli Mendok Festival at Darchiks, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and traditional vibrancy.
The Lieutenant Governor, accompanied by First Lady Sangeeta Saxena, received a warm स्वागत from the local community upon arrival in the picturesque Aryan Valley. Addressing the gathering, he praised the breathtaking beauty of the region, describing Ladakh as the “crown of the nation” and lauding its pristine environment, snow-clad mountains, and the warmth of its people.
Highlighting India’s unity in diversity, Vinai Kumar Saxena appreciated the cultural performances at the festival, noting the blend of regional influences with local traditions as a reflection of the country’s shared identity.
He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve Ladakh and reiterated the administration’s commitment to the region’s development.
Welcoming tourists attending the festival, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to share their experiences of Ladakh’s scenic beauty and hospitality, emphasizing that tourism promotion must remain sustainable and inclusive.
On the occasion, he visited local stalls and the Darchik Cultural Centre, established under Operation Sadbhavana, and appreciated the Indian Army for its role in preserving local culture and supporting community development in remote areas.
