REASI: In a major breakthrough, Reasi Police has arrested all four accused allegedly involved in a violent assault case reported at Bhambla, with the three absconding accused being traced and apprehended from Jalandhar, Punjab, officials said.
The case was registered on September 4, 2026, at Police Station Pouni under FIR No. 51/2026 and Sections 109, 332(c), 115(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the FIR, four persons allegedly armed with lathis forcibly entered a shop near the petrol pump at Bhambla and assaulted Sachin Puri, causing him serious injuries. The accused allegedly fled the spot after threatening the victim with dire consequences.
One of the accused, Kartik Uppal, a resident of Rah Salyote, Reasi, was apprehended shortly after the incident, while the remaining three allegedly fled outside Jammu and Kashmir to evade arrest.
Taking serious note of the incident, SSP Reasi constituted a dedicated team to trace the absconding accused. The police team conducted multiple raids at suspected locations across Reasi, other parts of Jammu and Kashmir and outside the Union Territory, besides using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
The sustained operation eventually led to the arrest of the three remaining accused from Jalandhar. They have been identified as Shubham Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni; Mohit Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni; and Anmol Sudan, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Rah Salyote, Tehsil Chowki Choura, Jammu.
The operation was led by PSI Amit Sharma under the supervision of Inspector Ravinder Singh, SHO Pouni, and DySP SOG Pouni Smriti Sharma.
The police action has been appreciated by members of the local community, who said the arrests have reinforced public confidence in law enforcement.
Reasi Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminal elements, asserting that offenders would not be allowed to evade the law irrespective of where they attempt to hide.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
