JAMMU: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, AIIMS Jammu, in collaboration with the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Indian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ISCCP), FOGSI Oncology Committee, Jammu Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (JOGS), and NIGF, successfully organized the Mid-Term ISCCP Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “Next-Gen Cervical Cancer Control: From Vaccines to Visualization.”
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, and practicing gynecologists from across the region.
The CME was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu. In his address, Prof. Gupta underscored the significance of early screening, HPV vaccination, and community-level awareness in reducing India’s cervical cancer burden. He also highlighted the availability of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) at AIIMS Jammu for personalized cancer management.
The scientific sessions featured distinguished national faculty, including Dr. Aruna Nigam, Dr. Vijay Zutshi, Dr. Saritha Shamsunder, and Dr. Nidhi Gupta, who delivered in-depth lectures on screening protocols, principles of colposcopy, and management of pre-invasive cervical lesions.
The deliberations covered a wide range of topics, including screening strategies, optics and tissue basis of colposcopy, Swede Scoring nomenclature, management of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), the role of HPV vaccination, and emerging innovations in cervical cancer prevention.
Hands-on training workshops on video and binocular colposcopy, thermal ablation, and LEEP techniques provided participants with valuable practical exposure under expert supervision.
The CME was meticulously coordinated under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Meeta Gupta, Dean Academics and Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, whose team ensured seamless conduct of the sessions, faculty engagement, and participant interaction.
The programme concluded with a panel discussion on clinical case management and evidence-based algorithms, followed by a vote of thanks.
