JAMMU: The 18th SEED Workshop and CME on Airway Management was successfully conducted at AIIMS Jammu, Vijaypur, by the Department of Anaesthesiology under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director and CEO.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Airway Management Foundation (AMF) and supervised by its office bearers, including Dr. Rakesh Kumar (President), Dr. Sunil Kumar (Secretary), and Dr. Shakti Dutt Sharma (Treasurer).
The event was attended by distinguished Guests of Honour, including Dr. Sujata Choudhary, Additional DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Dr. Kavita Sharma, Director of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.
The organizing committee was led by Dr. Sunana Gupta (Organising Chairperson), Dr. Shruti Sharma (Co-Organising Chairperson), and Dr. Raksha Kundal (Organising Secretary), along with other members of the faculty.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and practical skills in airway management. The academic sessions covered key areas such as airway anatomy, airway assessment, oxygenation strategies, supraglottic airway devices, videolaryngoscopy, airway topicalization, flexible fiberscope intubation, and front of neck access (FONA) techniques. Special emphasis was placed on the increasing role of advanced airway devices in improving patient care.
The event saw active participation from faculty members, residents, postgraduate students, interns, and practicing doctors from various institutions, including Government Medical College Jammu and other regional medical institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma highlighted the critical importance of effective airway management in both routine and emergency settings, noting that such workshops play a vital role in skill development and improving clinical outcomes. Prof. (Dr.) Meeta Gupta, Dean Academics, also emphasized the significance of airway management in disaster preparedness.
The workshop concluded on a successful note, receiving positive feedback from participants and reaffirming AIIMS Jammu’s commitment to advancing clinical excellence and patient safety.
