LONDON: Indian fashion house Satya Paul unveiled a landmark showcase at Lancaster House in London as part of SXSW London, presenting its celebrated legacy of print, drape and artistic expression on a global stage while also introducing its menswear collection internationally.
The showcase marked the first international presentation under the creative direction of Aseem Kapoor and signalled a new chapter for the brand as it expanded its creative universe across womenswear and menswear. The event was held following an invitation from the UK Department for Business and Trade and combined fashion, art, movement and live performance in an immersive cultural experience.
Titled “Untamed,” the presentation explored themes of individuality, self-expression and artistic freedom through fluid drapes, bold prints and contemporary interpretations of the saree, which remains the brand’s enduring muse. Inspired by nature, forgotten histories and ancient sculptural forms of the Indian subcontinent, the collection celebrated movement, freedom and evolving silhouettes.
The showcase highlighted Satya Paul’s mastery of printmaking, featuring reimagined archival zebra motifs, expressive bird illustrations and graphic dot-and-stripe patterns translated into draped silhouettes and statement separates. The presentation reflected the brand’s renewed creative direction while celebrating the transformative power of print through immersive and future-facing designs.
The newly introduced menswear collection extends the house’s artistic identity through contemporary silhouettes designed for the modern man. Featuring print narratives such as “Traveller” and “Collector,” the collection draws inspiration from exploration, memory and personal expression across coordinated separates, statement outerwear and occasion-driven styles.
Actor Danish Pandor walked the showcase, embodying the spirit of individuality and modern expression central to the collection. The event also featured a specially commissioned performance by percussionist and composer Sarathy Korwar and British Tamil movement artist Hashna Siva, who blended Indian percussion, Bharatanatyam and contemporary movement into a unique artistic performance.
Speaking on the occasion, Aseem Kapoor said print has always been more than a design element for Satya Paul, serving as a medium for individuality, emotion and cultural storytelling. He said presenting the brand in London was an opportunity to bring that spirit to a global audience while exploring how Indian design can continue to evolve in a contemporary and globally relevant manner.
Founded in 1985, Satya Paul has built a reputation for redefining the traditional saree for contemporary women and remains one of India’s most recognisable fashion brands. The London showcase underscored the brand’s commitment to preserving its heritage while engaging with global creative communities.
