KATRA: Demonstrating prompt action and effective investigation, the District Police Reasi solved a theft case and arrested two accused persons involved in the crime, recovering the stolen property along with the vehicle used in the offence.
According to police, a theft case (FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 303(2) of the BNS) was registered at Police Station Katra on February 4, 2026, following a written complaint by Rakesh Kumar, son of Bodh Raj and a resident of Moori, Katra, which was lodged at Police Post Kakryal.
In his complaint, the complainant stated that unknown persons had stolen 14 shuttering plates worth around ₹56,000 from his possession.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, a police team launched an investigation and conducted sustained efforts to trace the accused. During the course of investigation, the police identified and arrested two accused persons.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Atul Sharma, son of Late Narayan Dutt, a resident of Kotla, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, and Ravi Kumar, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Sirah Kotla.
During further investigation, police recovered all 14 stolen shuttering plates from the possession of the accused. Additionally, an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK20B-4085, which was used in the commission of the theft, was also seized.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
The operation was carried out by IC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO Police Station Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey (JKPS) and SP Katra Vipan Chandran (JKPS).
Meanwhile, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh (JKPS) reiterated the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
