KATRA: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Reasi Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler during a naka checking at New Bus Stand, Katra.
Police said a team from Police Station Katra intercepted a man identified as Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Sunderbani in Rajouri district, who was moving under suspicious circumstances. During his search, approximately 2.1 grams of heroin, commonly known as “chitta,” was recovered from his possession. He was taken into custody on the spot.
A case under FIR No. 63/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and forward linkages of the contraband.
The operation was led by SHO Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey (JKPS) and SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran (JKPS).
SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh (JKPS) reaffirmed the police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to share information related to drug trafficking.
