LEH: Northern Army Commander Pratik Sharma on Thursday visited the Siachen sector and reviewed the combat potential and operational preparedness of troops deployed in the region.
According to a post by the Northern Command on X, Lt Gen Sharma visited the Siachen Brigade and assessed the readiness of forces stationed in one of the world’s highest and coldest military zones.
During the visit, he lauded the professionalism, courage and dedication of the soldiers operating in the extreme climate and terrain of the Siachen glacier. He urged all ranks to embrace technological advancements to effectively address the evolving challenges of modern warfare and maintain operational superiority.
The Army Commander also visited the Siachen Ski Node, where he reviewed the training infrastructure and assessed skiing capabilities essential for mobility and survival in the high-altitude environment. He interacted with troops and commended their high morale and steadfast commitment.
Earlier, during his visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh, Lt Gen Sharma toured forward posts in eastern Ladakh on Wednesday, where he reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness. He appreciated the troops for their unwavering dedication, high state of combat readiness and professional excellence while serving in challenging conditions.
