JAMMU: Three inmates of a Juvenile Observation Home — including two Pakistani nationals and a member of the Khauff Gang — escaped from custody in the R S Pura sector on Monday evening after allegedly assaulting police personnel on guard duty.
Officials said information was received in the evening that the inmates attacked the on-duty guards and fled from the facility.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Ahsan Anwar, son of Mohd Anwar, resident of Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan; Mohd. Sanaullah, son of Mohd Zaffer, resident of Basti Jawewala, Tehsil Dinpur, District Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Pakistan; and Karanjit Singh alias Gugga, son of Arjun Singh, resident of Dablehar, R S Pura.
During the incident, two police personnel sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace the escaped juveniles. Cognisance of the incident has been taken and further investigation has been initiated.
