JAMMU: The Muay Thai Association of Jammu and Kashmir (MAJK) on Sunday successfully organised a Muay Thai Advanced Training Waikru / Mai Muay Seminar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from 80 students representing various districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The seminar aimed to enhance technical proficiency, discipline and traditional understanding of Muay Thai, with special emphasis on Waikru and Mai Muay, which form the cultural and foundational pillars of the sport. Participants underwent intensive training sessions focusing on advanced techniques, posture, movement, and the traditional rituals associated with Muay Thai.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Sahil Aggarwal, Chief Patron, MAJK, as the Chief Guest, along with Sh. Amit Singh, President, MAJK, and Sh. Vikas Dhar, Chief Organiser, MAJK.
Prominent officials and coaches present on the occasion included Mr. Mohit Singh (National Judge & Coach), Mr. Surjeet Dogra (Coach), Mr. Abhimanyu Singh (Coach) and Mr. Neeraj Singh Manhas (Coach), who played a key role in conducting and supervising the training sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, MAJK officials highlighted the growing popularity of Muay Thai in Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated the association’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting the sport at both grassroots and competitive levels. They emphasised that such advanced training seminars are vital for preparing athletes for national and international competitions.
The event concluded with appreciation for the discipline and dedication shown by the participants and coaches, and a renewed resolve by MAJK to continue organising high-quality training programmes to raise the standard of Muay Thai in the region.
